For the Christmas season, every student in the school was given a red stocking to decorate and will be given to a variety of organizations in the community. Classes worked on their jolly stockings with their buddy classes. Students donated some essentials such as toothpaste and socks, as well as a few items to pass the time, like crossword puzzles. Last Sunday, these stockings were filled by families that took time out of their day to give a helping hand. The Service Learning subcommittee, lead by Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Swanger, and Mrs. Hubbard, helped organize and carry out this kind deed.

Our We Lead Wednesday subcommittee plans to teach another insightful 7 Habits lesson this January. Ms. Phillips runs this team and continues to inspire us with a contagious love for teaching. It is so rewarding to see the younger students get excited while we are teaching!

In our Leadership Day subcommittee, the team of creative SLHT members are combining all their magnificent ideas on how to make this year’s Leadership Day even more astounding than last year! Together they are seeking out ways to reinvent past events as well as incorporate new and original ideas. Ms. Latimer and Mrs. Brooke, who run the subcommittee, encourage students to be open and imaginative, while realistic as they set a path for the young leaders.

The Student Lighthouse Leadership Team has inexorable thirst to do good. The team has worked assiduously to put the ideas of the student body into motion. We have much gratitude to any and all of the adult leaders that have allowed us to reach the stars, while lifting others to do the same. We look with hope towards the future, as we aspire to continue to make Blessed Sacrament an environment where students lead by action and example. This team is like a locomotive: full steam ahead!

*NOTE: It is with a heavy heart that BSS will say goodbye to Dani and her family as they leave us moving to Texas on a whole new journey. The Collins family will be missed as they are very active at BSS, and we send them off with lots of prayers and well wishes.
