The religious education program at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is both academic and social.
We strive not only to have our students aware of the tenets of the Catholic faith, we encourage them to love that faith in their lives and in the community. All members of the school faculty and administrative staff BELIEVE the structure of our religious program allows our students to grow as individuals, realizing their full potential while practicing strong morals in their behavior and decisions. While many of our students are not of the Catholic faith, all students participate in our religious education programs. At Blessed Sacrament Catholic School we BELIEVE these ideals are important to our students’ education.
We provide instructions aligned with the Catholic faith at each grade level, utilizing traditional academic methods, online platforms, and engaging classroom visits by parish priests.
In our lower school, we’re proud to offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a unique, hands-on religious education program that is a hallmark of Catholic schools in Savannah. This program is dedicated to helping students explore their faith.
Monthly virtues such as responsibility and kindness are highlighted, with students participating in community service activities to bring these virtues to life.
Regular participation in Mass, including First Friday Mass and Mass on Holy Days of Obligation, is an integral part of our program, helping students strengthen their sacramental participation.
Sacramental Programs: Specialized programs in the second and eighth grades prepare students for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
Offered to all grades, this program teaches students about human sexuality with respect and reverence, requiring parental permission for participation.
At Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, we observe several devotions throughout the year. Penance services are conducted during Advent and Lent, with students participating in the Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent. Our annual May Procession honors Our Blessed Mother, featuring our First Communion class. Additionally, we hold a Thanksgiving prayer service, an Advent Liturgical performance, and a Lenten Passion play, enriching the spiritual life at Blessed Sacrament School Savannah.
At Blessed Sacrament School, we are committed to providing a comprehensive religious education that prepares our students to be conscientious and faithful members of the community.
